Still trying to compose that Western Filk song, I came up with this one, which, as usual, took it's own turn during creation. Weird how that always seems to happen...

Anyway, we're back home from Seattle, so I finished it up and here it is.

For years on end no contact
With another soul, or home
Just going from rock to rock
Seeking water, seeking ore
Might almost forget, sometimes

Now there's treasure in the Oort cloud
Not in gold or jewels or oil
But in rare earths, and in water
That can help earth not to boil
And from the stuff left after mining
They can build that solar dome

While we try to save our home

There's water in the Oort cloud
They pay dearly back at home
Sometimes there's other things as well
But water's why we come
We gather rocks of ice
Not overlarge so we can haul
And drag them back to Earth
And in the oceans let them fall

Though I think that cause is long lost
And pretty sure Mars will only rust
But if that's what the techies want
Then I'm happy to comply
The pay's the same and after all
They're the ones who let us fly...

Stealin's easier than working steady

So most rustlers wind up dead in space
With their suits all slashed and slit

The magic ships the techies make us
Let us fly both far and fast
And they've got a towing system
That somehow acts to increase mass
We can drag a lot of ice to Earth
If we're careful, don't you know
Avoid the rustlers and watch our path
And drop it where it's s'posed to go...
