The sixth track I've recorded for album number five, which is still unnamed. Again, it hasn't been mastered yet, so it may sound a little different on the album (hopefully better!).

I wrote this one back in 2011 after I had the honor of being the Filk GoH at Duckon XX. The experience was wonderful, of course, but the shock of coming back to reality left its mark. PTGD, I guess...

When I got ready to record it, I figured it need more. So there are three new choruses. Gestation period, 9 years. Tom Smith, I ain't...

This weekend, I was royalty
We felt like Will and Kate
Dined and wined and boarded
It was absolutely great
But now we're back at home
The real world back in my face
And I can't help but reminisce
While restarting the rat race.

"But my wife, as always, comes to my aid,
with her practical assessment of the situation..."

The dishes all need washing and it's
Time to clean the john
The garden, it needs weeding
And it's time to mow the lawn
The cats have filled their boxes
With all sundry sorts of turds
And your GoHness, tomorrow is Tuesday
Get the trash out to the curb

So back at work again and things are
Just about the same
A crisis every hour
Bosses try to fix the blame
When I get home I rant and rave
'Bout how stupid they all seem
So while notching back my ego
My wife 'splains to me some things.

"I know, Dear. But, in the meantime..."

The carpets all need vacuuming
There's cobwebs on the walls
The driveway, it needs edging
There's an odd smell in the hall
The cats have filled the litter boxes
With all sorts of turds
And your GoHship, tomorrow is Tuesday
Get the trash out to the curb

So if you ever get to be a GoH
Somewhere down the road
Enjoy the time, the accolades,
The attention and the show
But don't let the pomp and pageantry
Blind you to the real world
Or you, too, may have it pointed out
All the ways you're being absurd

"You were wonderful, hon. But now..."

The cars need oil changes
And the gutters are a mess
The windows all need washing
And the roof shows signs of stress
I think you'll need a backhoe
To clean the litter box of turds
And your GoHness, tomorrow is Tuesday

But there are some other things that need attention.."

The sewer's backing up and the
Appliances are fading
The tree in our back yard
Is now a hole in our roof making
Is that a dead cat in the litter box?
Well, that's really most disturbing

Get the trash out to the curbing.
